Julia Caruana, LCMFT
Therapist and Founder of Bethesda Counseling Services
I specialize in working with parents to find a comfortable, confident perspective on understanding & meeting their child’s social/emotional needs while building a strong bond. I also love working with women that are healing from past trauma and dysfunctional family patterns and feel stuck or lost. Our past experiences and how we were raised can affect the way we see ourselves, others and the world. Through building self-awareness and addressing unresolved issues of our past you can heal and truly be present with yourself and your family. How you made sense of your past will predict the type of relationship you have with your child, your spouse or yourself. My other passion is working with couples that are getting married through premarital counseling.
I believe therapy is similar to moving to a different place; it’s new, unexpected, and can be challenging at first but it is capable of becoming the vehicle for change and growth, a safe and secure place to navigate challenges, obtain self-growth, and/or build and strengthen meaningful relationships. My goal in the therapy room is to offer insight and tools to help you manage and deal with challenging life situations such as becoming parents, getting divorced or navigating the teen years. My hope is that you will leave therapy making sense of your world in a different way and feeling more connected with yourself or your loved ones.
When I am not in the therapy room I enjoy spending time with my husband and children, visiting my family in Spain and when not chasing two toddlers I love watching cooking shows with my cat on my lap.
