Karla Najera, LCSW-C

Welcome/bienvenidas,
Over the past several years, I have provided therapy in English and in Spanish in Maryland. Throughout those years, I have worked with children, adolescents and adults in a number of settings (schools, clinics, non profit agencies and due to the pandemic-teletherapy). Many of the clients I’ve seen, have worked through trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief and loss as well as adjusting to new life transitions. I am also passionate about first and second generation Latino/a college experiences and life dilemmas due to engrained cultural norms.
I incorporate evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused CBT, Play therapy, mindfulness and more. I believe that each person requires a level of treatment that is tailored to their own experiences, needs and learning styles. I strive to make each session client centered and always incorporate a strength based approach.
I know how hard it is to ask for help and this quote encompasses my view on it: “Healing takes time, and asking for help is a courageous step” Mariska H. Please take that courageous step in asking for help, and allow me to walk with you during your healing journey.
During my free time, I enjoy trying new restaurants, rescuing animals, weight lifting, doing bridal makeup and attending outdoor concerts.
