    Therapist at Bethesda Counseling Services

Hello! I am Sabrina, DC born and raised, and come from a large immigrant Peruvian household.

I believe therapy is a helpful space to deepen one’s understanding of themselves and others. It is also a space for growth and healing from our past experiences that have shaped us and our worldview. I use a systemic lens that involves viewing the individual within the context of a larger system. This includes people, environments, rules, and societal norms that impact us. My role is to use a collaborative, non-judgmental, and supportive approach in therapy to meet my clients’ individual needs. My goal is to provide a safe, warm, and nurturing environment with a foundation of trust and empathy to facilitate difficult discussions. My hope is for you to feel heard and empowered, because you are the expert in your life!

I specialize in working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families through a culturally sensitive lens that may be experiencing but not limited to; anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, gender expression, immigration, multi-cultural & multi-racial issues, life transitions, and interpersonal conflict. I use a person-centered and attachment-based approach when working with all ages. My favorite therapy models to use are Play Therapy with children and families, Narrative and Experiential Therapy with individuals, and Emotion-Focused Therapy with couples which all fall under a systemic lens.

Taking the first step in finding a therapist is a vulnerable and unique experience. I hope I can assist you on your journey in achieving your personal growth goals!

When I am not in the therapy room, I love spending time with friends and family, trying out new recipes, traveling, and running around chasing my dog, Mickey.
