Alexis Desai

Hi, I’m Alexis and I believe in a compassionate approach to care, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for individuals to build support. I use a variety of different approaches focused primarily on cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and person-centered care, using an individualized process to establish a relationship between myself and you. I believe we can tailor our time together to reflect wherever you fall in your life’s journey.

I work with both adults and kids, focusing on people that experience substance use disorders or families with members struggling with substance use, anxiety, general life challenges, life transitions, college-related changes, self-esteem/body image, and stress. In addition to those, I have experience working with children with divorced parents. Art can foster creativity in the therapeutic relationship and enhance means of communication. I believe all humans are born innately creative and if you’d like we can explore this process together. I am very excited to begin this journey with you!

I graduated from Washington College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Clinical/ Counseling and minor in studio art. I received my Masters of Science in Clinical Professional Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. Outside of therapy, I enjoy reading, playing with my two cats Jade and Clementine, hanging out with loved ones, and crafting.
