New Mindfulness Meditation Group
I will be starting a drop-in open group on June 20th from 11am-11:45am every Friday in person at Bethesda Counseling Services and virtually where I will lead a guided meditation and reflection session. My goal is to have a dedicated space where individuals can learn and practice mindfulness habits through different guided meditations to help ground themselves for emotional regulation, increased mindful awareness, and reduction of stress and anxiety.
I am starting this group because I noticed in many people I’ve worked with the desire to start or maintain healthy coping skills for anxiety, overwhelm, overthinking, worry, and stress. In my own life I have personally and professionally found that breathwork and using meditation skills drastically improves mood and the ability to cope with adversity. Having lead group meditation sits before I am aware that it can feel daunting to have a 45-minute period to sit in silence and examine your inner thoughts and emotions. What I can assure you is that this space is adaptable to meet your individual comfort-levels and readiness to practice mindfulness. I will lead sessions with directives and opportunities for silence as well as an opportunity at the end of the practice to reflect and share, if you’re willing, about your experience.
My intention behind having a mid-day meditation is to pause at the end of each week to sit with yourselves and develop or maintain a healthy way to manage your emotions and thoughts. Meditation can be a powerful tool, albeit a sometimes intimidating one. Just showing up is a part of the desire to make a change and the openness to try to something new is admirable. Each week you have the opportunity to sign up but there’s no commitment to attending every week. I invite you to find time when it works with your schedule to drop-in and practice alongside me. My hope is that you’ll walk away after the sessions with some peace, awareness, or just a momentary pause from the busyness that are often our lives. I look forward to hopefully having you join me.
