Whether you're worried, depressed, feeling isolated, anxious, or disappointed, we will journey together to figure out why. The answers lie inside of you; together we can clear the obstacles that prevent you feeling more joyous and better connected to others. The only requirements are a non-judgmental curiosity and a willingness to do the work of therapy.
As a master social worker licensed in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. I work with individuals and couples using Imago, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I value these methods because of their positive approach. Just as there are no bad parts in IFS, in Imago there are typically no bad partners. Imago starts from appreciation rather than blame or shame. It empowers couples to do their own work. The therapist is a facilitator. Similarly, with individuals, I see the therapist's role as more like a partner or guide than an "expert."
I attended Oberlin College for my bachelor's degree and Catholic University for my master's degree in social work. Psychotherapy is my second - and best! - career following a variety of roles writing for national and international news outlets and the U.S. federal government. I have lived and worked all over the world and these experiences help me to understand ways in which your life experience may be different from others.
Outside of work, I love reading novels, crafts, travel, and exploring new neighborhoods with my husband and dog, Sizzle.
