Beth Bralley
Therapist at Bethesda Counseling Services
Life inevitably brings unique challenges of all kinds. With this, there will likely be times where seeking professional guidance is helpful. I believe there is great value in being heard, understood, and supported. Whether you are experiencing distress, life changes, or troubling thoughts and emotions, engaging in therapy can offer you meaningful growth, while uncovering your own courage and strength.
In my work with clients from varying backgrounds, ages, and life experience, it is important to me to understand my client as a multidimensional person. I take a client-centered, interpersonal approach to building a meaningful relationship with my clients through which, together, we develop a strong connection in order to understand your world as you experience it. I prioritize providing a safe and nurturing environment for clients to heal as well as create new patterns of thinking, understanding, and putting insights into practice outside of sessions. You can think of our work together as a shared journey of connection, discovery, and transparency on a person-to-person level. We will work as a team to strengthen your ability to manage internal and external challenges.
In session, I will incorporate techniques tailored to your situation and individual style, combined with psychoeducation, supportive guidance, self-expression, and tools to help drive positive adjustments in your life. Throughout the process, we will implement coping skills that work for you as a we formulate goals that align with not only your wants, but also with your needs. Together we will uncover new pathways that fit with your ideals, while building upon the strengths and abilities you already encompass.
My clinical experience includes providing individual therapy to adults experiencing life stressors of many kinds, to include physical illness, depression and anxiety, life adjustments, low self-worth, trauma, loss, and identity discovery. Additionally, I have experience working with children and teens, individually and in group therapy, who are experiencing difficulties in school, peer relationships, social anxiety, problematic behavior, family dysfunction, depression and general anxiety, as well as issues related to gender and sexuality.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) and my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Washington University. Apart from my work as a clinician, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, discovering new music, listening to podcasts, and exploring new places.
