Chima Dimgba
Therapist at Bethesda Counseling Services
Welcome, my goal is to provide a safe space for you to grow and gain awareness about yourself as you navigate life's challenges. My role in your journey is to help you foster change while exploring adaptive and maladaptive patterns of interaction and behavior. No matter what life stage you are in, I am proud of your decision to consider therapy as one way to help you attain a healthier self.
I specialize in working with couples and adolescents who face depressive, anxiety, OCD, trauma, or relational concerns. A core value of mine is to see each client's strengths and individual uniqueness in the context of the systems they live in when addressing their concerns and obstacles. As a first-generation Nigerian American, it is of utmost importance for me to create an environment where diverse individuals, especially those traditionally not represented in the counseling space, feel that their emotions and challenges are valued and welcomed.
My conceptualization is rooted in Strategic Family Therapy, though my application and chosen interventions depend on your treatment goals. I have been trained in and use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gottman couples counseling, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Middlebury College and my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University.
In my free time, I enjoy walking my dog, spending time with my loved ones, baking desserts, and collecting houseplants.
Clinical Degree: Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC)
